Willkommen im Skigebiet La Thuile/La Rosiere
To ski in La Thuile means skiing on more than 155 km of slopes, always perfectly groomed and surrouded by one of the most beautiful valleys in the Alpine region.
On one side, the legendary Mont Blanc and the majestic Mount Rutor on the other accompany the skier everywhere. Travelling down any slope, these two marvelous mountains make their presence felt.
Since 1986, the international connection with the French ski resort La Rosière has been open. A single lift ticket is enough to ski on the frontier of two countries!
From La Thuile at 1,450 meters to up to more than 2,600 meters at Belvedere, there is a myriad of slopes that descend back down into the valley. And in La Thuile, there are slopes suitable for every level of skier, from the most expert to the beginner. Blue, red and black runs are ready to be confronted with appropriate evaluation. Run number 25 is recommended for expert skiers, from the top of Belvedere diving down into the valley at the base of the Fourclaz Express chairlift. For a more contemplative skier, there is the 11-kilometer long run number 7, through woods and past mountain huts, old military outposts, and forts from World War II, departing from the top of Chaz Dura and arriving in La Thuile.
But that’s not all. Over 300 high pressure artificial snow-making machines and 8 low pressure machines guarantee optimal snow conditions on 30 kilometers of slopes.
On the mountain that contains the ski terrain of La Thuile, 14 mountain huts offer sandwichs made with regional coldcuts and cheeses in addition to full meals based on the local culinary arts. To round out a good meal, don’t forget to try the local liquores, grappa or génépy, or better yet, a coffee “alla valdostana”.
La Thuile also boasts of modern and well-equipped ski rental shops, in town as well as up on the mountain. Here you can rent the best brands in Alpine skis, carving skis, test skis, fun carving skis, big foot, snowblades, and snowboards. Experimenting with these cutting-edge snow sports within the safety of appropriate runs is half the fun!
